Greg Anderson raised the first Wally of the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series in Pro Stock at the Circle K NHRA Winternationals.

“I feel honored to be the recipient of the first trophy in the fuel-injected era and maybe we can get a few more this year,” said Anderson. “You can’t have an advantage on the field if you don’t start with an advantage, and we started with one.”

The Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros of Anderson and KB Racing teammate Jason Line dominated the Pro Stock class all weekend. Anderson qualified No. 1 with a 6.585 elapsed time at 209.62 mph. Line was close behind with a 6.592 e.t. at 210.14 mph.

Anderson also recorded the low e.t. of the event with a 6.585. Line recorded the top speed of event at 210.34 mph.

The pair ended up facing each other in the final round of the Winternationals. It was a photo finish, with Anderson ultimately winning on a holeshot.

“The entire KB Racing team had a great day. I just can’t tell you how proud of the job the KB Racing team has done for the last two months. It’s been a lot of hard work and we thank everyone who supports us.”

The Pro Stock class struggled during the off-season making several NHRA sanctioned changes. The biggest was going from a carbureted setup to fuel injected.

“It’s kind of neat to see everybody trying to conquer the EFI setup on their own. That’s the beauty of all the engineers and ingenuity in this class. As the fuel injection becomes more popular and faster on the racetrack, it’s going to be a fun ride.”

Anderson went on to add, “I can guarantee that all the competitors in our class are going home and getting to work and it will be a new ball game at Phoenix.”

Even though he was runner-up, Line is happy with the performance of his teammate.

“It was a good race. I think that’s what people come to watch. It was just a great weekend for the whole team,” said Line. “Greg wins this battle and gets bragging rights back at the shop, so I have to live with that for a while.”
