CHANDLER, Ariz. (February 22, 2019) – Friday qualifying for the Magic Dry Organic Absorbent NHRA Arizona Nationals was canceled following a partial nitro session due to inclement weather. There were no qualifying passes made for the Pro Stock class as cold, wet weather lingered into the afternoon. Qualifying will continue on Saturday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.
Greg Anderson, a two-time Phoenix winner, spoke on behalf of the team.
“We’re racers, and we want a go at the racetrack no matter what the conditions are. We want to try, but it’s probably for the best,” said Anderson. “Reality says that we probably wouldn’t have had much success, and this is the right decision. We hate it for the fans, and we want them to know we appreciate that they tried to stick it out with us.
“The only consolation for us is that what we learned today wouldn’t really help us for the rest of the weekend. We’re going to have completely different conditions on Saturday and Sunday, so we’re going to try to look at it that way. I was at the front of the line itching to go, but this is probably a wiser decision.”
