INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 30, 2019) – Jason Line is an engine guy, so having a quick racecar is directly related to his level of happiness. The faster his silver Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro goes, the bigger the three-time Pro Stock champ smiles. On Friday at the 65th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, Line was at optimum joy-level as he flew to the provisional pole in the first of five qualifying rounds.

Although Line has been on the property since Wednesday racing his C/SA Buick GS in the Stock Eliminator category, Friday was the first day of qualifying for the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series pros. Pro Stock took the track well after 7pm as the sun was saying its goodbyes, and quick times were ripe for the picking as the air and track temps dipped. Line took advantage and rocketed to a 6.570-second pass at 209.62 mph. The only driver with a quicker speed was KB Racing teammate Bo Butner, who went 209.95.

“I think we have something good right now, and hopefully we can keep it that way,” said Line. “This is the best Summit Racing Chevy Camaro I’ve had in a couple years, for sure, and that makes it exciting and fun. You know, I’ve never won Indy. Last week in Brainerd I got to cross one off my list, and I’d like to cross another one off this week.”

Line will jump back into qualifying in the Pro Stock Camaro on Saturday afternoon, but early Saturday morning, he’ll slide back into his Buick for round one of Stock eliminations. So far, he’s had one of the quickest entries in the elite Sportsman category.

“Both of my cars are happy here,” said Line. “It was a fun day, today. It was a busy day, but a fun day. I love Indy – there’s so much going on, especially with all of the Sportsman racing. This is a great way to top it off, for sure.”

If Line should secure the No. 1 qualifying position, he will score the first bonus in the special award program put together by Race Star Wheels, the brand which Line proudly sports on both his Buick GS and Pro Stock Chevrolet Camaro.

“Race Star Wheels have been great to us, and we’re really grateful for all of the support that they’ve shown the Pro Stock class,” said Line. “I want to get that award this weekend. It’s one of my goals, for sure.”

Qualifying continues on Saturday at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis with sessions scheduled at 1:15 and 4:15 pm ET.
