Carlsbad, Calif. (Jan. 29, 2020) – Auto Imagery, Inc. was established over four decades ago by acclaimed drag racing photographer Richard Shute, who decided to make a business out of his favorite hobby: photographing drag racing. Shute and his team of proven photographers have traveled near and far to catalog NHRA drag racing from every angle on what is now known as the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, but when you realize we have over a million images in our catalog, it really hits you,” said Shute, owner, president, and lead photographer at Auto Imagery.
“I’m really proud that we’ve created something that catalogs so much of the history of NHRA drag racing. One of the most special things about this sport is the people, though, and to me, that’s the best part. You see them through the lens, but then you get to know them, and they become like family. I believe that the relationships we’ve built are as valuable as the images we’ve shot. In fact, I think the relationships enable us to get even better photos, and that makes you feel like you’ve really done something good.”
Auto Imagery showcases NHRA drag racing through vivid photography that captures the essence of the visceral sport at each event on the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour. Smoky burnouts and huge wheelstands, header flames set against the night sky, and brilliant representation of nearly every single car in every class can be found at AutoImagery.com following each race.
Each of those images can be purchased at AutoImagery.com, either in print form or for download, and detailed instructions are conveniently located at the top of the left navigation of the homepage.
“Going into this season, our 41st year in business, I feel really good about the team of photographers that I’ve been fortunate to assemble,” said Shute. “Every person who contributes to Auto Imagery is here because they have talent and are willing to continue learning and growing. They’re a reflection of me, my values, and the quality of images that represent this company.
“Drag racing has been a passion of mine for most of my life, and I look forward to Auto Imagery continuing to catalog its history in 2020 and beyond.”
